For the third outing in the Paranormal Activity series we're heading back to the eighties. That's right we've hit prequel territory. The setup is exactly the same as we watch a family struggle with some mysterious presence through camcorder footage. The focus this time round is two young sisters who have befriended "Toby". Turns out he's not-so-friendly and not-so-imaginary. As with the first two movies things build up slowly with the odd subtle creepy moment and get increasingly strange and freaky. The family stays in the house well beyond the point at which most sane people would have left. There are a couple of effective scares and the tension is skillfully built up but this is essentially the same thing again. If you liked the first two then it's a safe bet you'll like this.
