Paranormal Activity is about a girl who thinks she is being haunted. Her boyfriend decides to set up his camera to see what's going on at night and the results are increasingly disturbing as the film plays out. Watched this with no great expectations and found it was a genuinely suspenseful and creepy little flick. This is great low budget filmmaking. It starts off slow with too much handheld camera swinging around but the unknown actors are decent and the effect draws you in and adds to the overall claustrophobia so you feel as though you're trapped in the house with them. The scant effects that are used are very well handled and the slow build up really pays off. Watched alone at night in an empty house this could really freak you out.
