Slasher Horror Film Halloween II poster

Halloween II 2009

Released - 2009
Genre - Horror, Thriller
Director - Rob Zombie
Starring - Malcolm McDowell, Brad Dourif, Sheri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor-Compton

Rob Zombie continues his assault on this classic slasher franchise with another terrible film that misses the point of the original. Michael Myers is a rage filled psycho haunted by his mother and he stalks around making his way to Haddonfield and leaving a trail of corpses in his wake. McDowell's Loomis is a shameless self-publicist and the mostly unmasked Myers himself is like an angry wrestler here. There's far too much screen time for Myers which detracts from any potential creepiness and the stupid device Zombie inserted of his ghostly mother and a white horse is painfully awful. There are plenty of murders but they play out in boring fashion with little imagination and serve only to showcase Zombie's obsession with mean-spirited violence, as each one lasts longer than it should. The muddled and disjointed action is just plain irritating and Zombie's writing is every bit as bad as his direction. If you are a fan of the originals then don't subject yourself to this torture.

Gore - lots of brutal murders, mostly people getting stabbed in the face, they manage to last too long without being especially graphic
