Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

Released - 1985
Genre - Horror, Thriller, Mystery
Director - Danny Steinmann
Starring - Anthony Barrile, Suzanne Bateman, Dominick Brascia, Todd Bryant

For many people this is the worst film in the Friday the 13th series, and while personally I'd point the finger at Jason X, Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning is far from a great slasher film and it does break all the usual rules. Tommy Jarvis is still having horrifying nightmares about Jason and he ends up at a remote halfway house for troubled teens. Shortly after his arrival one of the teens kills another and a series of deaths kicks off which Tommy believes are being perpetrated by Jason Voorhees. The lake setting is completely absent and, despite a high body count, the film lacks gore. The fact director Steinmann tried to do something different with the franchise is commendable but many fans feel ripped off when they realise Jason isn't actually in the film and this is in fact more of a whodunit.

Bodycount - 22

Gore - the gore is pretty poor and lacks the usual flair
