The fact that this is part four of a series that was laid to rest ten years ago and they got the original crew (writer, director and surviving cast) back together is testament to the success of the Scream series. That's not to say it was a good idea. This time Sidney is back in Woodsboro for a book launch and she teams up with Dewey and Gale who are married and living the quiet life. No sooner are the trio reunited than another Ghostface pops up and starts stabbing people. It's impossible to watch this without guessing whodunit on the way along and the culprit emerging from the barrel of red herrings is always going to be a disappointment. It's funny in places and Craven can direct slasher murders with his eyes shut, but it's a shame they weren't a bit braver in throwing the rule book away here. This is entertaining but don't expect any real surprises.

Gore - lots of stabbing and blood splatter but this series is about thrills and scares over gore
