Herbert West is the strange new student at a medical college who is a little too obsessed with conquering death. He drags his room mate into his macabre experiments as they use a luminous green serum to re-animate the dead with disastrously violent results. Loosely based on a Lovecraft story this is both funny and very gruesome stuff with buckets of gore. The film features some great special effects which stand up well to the test of time and it is both well acted and skilfully directed.
