Low budget sci-fi horror is often a recipe for disaster but this film has some effective moments. Sam is kidnapped by aliens and his son Tony witnesses the disappearance but his mother doesn't believe him. Years later she is shacked up with another man and Sam returns to earth as an alien. He eats a couple of people and then rapes a woman before he is reborn in his original human form. He wants to take Tony back with him and imbues his son with special powers which allow him to bring his toys to life and indulge his anger. This is quite nasty stuff, there are a couple of real gross out scenes and thanks to some clever direction there are also some genuinely chilling moments. Towards the end it descends into chaotic weirdness and some of the scenes are comically strange. There is also random nudity from Maryam d'Abo who plays Tony's French nanny. It's not exactly a classic but it is certainly unique and original.
