It's a fair bet when you see a guy clad in dungarees and a baseball cap in a horror movie he's going to be a killer. If he opens his mouth to reveal a southern accent then it's a virtual certainty. We've even got a set of hillbilly horror rules. Tucker and Dale turn the usual scenario on its head. This pair of loveable rednecks set off for a quiet break to their vacation cabin in the woods but they run into a gang of fun-seeking teens. The college kids jump to all the wrong conclusions and the result is comedy gold. There are too many comedy horror films that don't work as either, but this is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. It's a great parody of the genre, the script is witty and the acting and direction is spot on. Crack open a beer, sit back and enjoy the birth of horror's first hillbilly heroes.
