The Stepfather

This is about as straight a remake as I've ever seen, though I guess not many people saw the original The Stepfather. The basic premise concerns a serial killer who marries unsuspecting women and then kills them and their whole family when things don't work out the way he wants. It's like a typical afternoon made for TV movie but with slightly higher production values and a bit more violence. They've changed the suspicious daughter from the original into a son here but otherwise it's exactly the same. For me Terry O' Quinn played the psycho bubbling under the surface of a nice guy better but Dylan Walsh is pretty convincing too. It's daft, unchallenging and predictable entertainment.
