Glance at the poster and you instantly know what this film is about. Juliet (Hilary Swank) moves into Max's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Brooklyn building for suspiciously cheap rent, but he's a lecherous psycho and she's going to have to kill him. It is so by the numbers that you'll feel like you've seen it before. The cast is wasted, Christopher Lee is the best of the bunch but he's criminally underused as Max's grandfather, August. For me Swank and Morgan have real acting talent but they're miscast here. The plot is predictable and boring, the set-piece scares are telegraphed and it never really feels tense. Just another run-of-the-mill thriller that doesn't bode especially well for the Hammer Horror brand's re-launch.
