The Mist

Based on a Stephen King story this is a bleak horror about a freak storm which descends on a small sleepy town. The mist contains horrible creatures and so a group of hapless people barricade themselves in the local supermarket and fight for survival. Their plight is complicated by a religious nut who exploits the fear and splits the group's loyalties and before long they are at each other's throats. This is reminiscent of an old monster movie and features plenty of action but gets caught up in a moral quagmire with religious overtones.
