A divorced mother with two sons moves in with her father in California to start a new life. The sons, Michael and Sam, manage to get into trouble almost immediately. Michael chases a cute girl he sees at the pier and ends up hanging out with a gang of vampires who want to turn him into one of them, while Sam meets the local vampire hunters at the comic book store. This is quality eighties cheese with a great cast and soundtrack, it predates Buffy by a few years but had an obvious influence on the move towards hip, young vamps. I loved this film as a youngster and while it has dated a bit it is still a lot of fun.
Gore - some biting and cool vampire deaths, nothing too nasty
Vampires - the original good looking teen vampires who go all demon faced when they vamp out
