This is one of those sequels that bears no relation to the original film and would have been better served being released as a standalone title. It tells the story of a US solider in Iraq who is involved in a nasty incident at a checkpoint and ends up giving the order to fire on a van full of civilians. He returns home struggling to deal with what has happened and finds his family have also been deeply affected by it, things get even worse for him when he begins to see ghosts and he strives to understand what they want from him. There is obviously a strong anti-war message running throughout this film but events aren't quite as they appear and this has a sting in the tail. It is a rather bleak and depressing tale to be honest, there is a deep sense of foreboding and the atmosphere is creepy in places but this is far from a traditional horror film. The moral issues it raises are interesting and far more challenging than your average straight to DVD horror flick but at times I felt the cast struggled to convince.
