This is a painfully boring vaguely supernatural story, badly adapted from a Fay Weldon book, about a young female architect who falls pregnant while working on a remote cottage. Her nearest neighbours are a strange bunch and they start to plot against her using some kind of witchcraft. The script is littered with odd references and the plot never hangs together comfortably. The direction is really ropy and there are some ridiculous internal sex shots which came as a bit of a surprise and were far from erotic. Despite the big names in the cast this is a truly terrible film with no suspense or excitement of any kind and it was tedious in the extreme to sit through.
