Horror and sci-fi is often a great mix and so at first glance Pandorum was a tempting prospect. The action is set on a huge space ship, the Elysium, bound for a habitable planet. With Earth over populated and gripped in a death spiral of war over the remaining resources 16,000 people left in search of the new world. Will any of them make it? The film opens with a couple of crew members waking up from stasis to find the ship in chaos. The generator is about to shut down plunging them all into eternal darkness. It needs to be rebooted but there are strange mutants roaming the corridors and a rag-tag band of survivors who could prove just as dangerous. This is quite a tense film with plenty of action and a decent cast. The visual aesthetic isn't especially imaginative but it is well realised and there are plenty of twists to keep you hooked until the end.
