A NASA mission discovers a derelict spaceship and they bring back some kind of alien artifact which turns out to be a self building battle robot...oops! The two astronauts involved then get sent to the moon to look for the alien's origin and they get more than they bargained for. It's tough to buy Koenig (Chekov from Star Trek) as a lead but Campbell is a great sidekick. They seem to have been aiming for a serious tone but the plot is ridiculous and it comes off as slow and ponderous. It actually looks pretty good for a relatively low budget affair and even with the astoundingly silly story it is strangely enjoyable. It never really achieves the dark tone it is striving for so there is little in the way of horror but the stupidity of their actions and the cheap effects provide quite a few laughs.
