Adapted from the DC comic book, Jonah Hex is a scarred, bounty hunter with supernatural powers. They've changed the storyline, as is typical for film adaptations, so the film is a grudge battle between Hex (Brolin) and Turnbull (Malkovich). Hex is held responsible for betraying Turnbull to the Union forces during the civil war and getting his son killed. Turnbull responds by killing Hex's wife and kid and branding his face. What follows is a revenge chase as Hex hunts Turnbull who is busily constructing a super weapon so he can challenge President Grant. It's pure action all the way with plenty of gun fights and explosions. The best sequences involve Hex bringing the dead back to life so he can question them. The characters are thin and the plot utterly predictable, about what you'd expect.
