With a name like Harpoon: Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre you'd be forgiven for expecting the worst but with the right preparation (around 4 cans of lager) this is an enjoyably gory flick featuring some Icelandic fishbillies hunting an international group of would-be whale watchers. After a cowardly, drunken Frenchman (is there any other kind?) accidentally kills the captain of a whale watching expedition the tourists onboard begin to panic. It appears rescue has arrived but in fact the horror is only just beginning. A family of inbred and bitter ex-whale hunters kick off a murderous and bloody finale. The acting is pretty ropy but there are a few fun twists and some decent effects. It exceeded my expectations based on the title, which isn't to say it was a great film, but accompanied by beers and friends it was fun to watch.
Gore - mixture of make up and some decent effects, ramps up during the finale
