This sumptuous retelling of Bram Stoker's classic Dracula was hugely expensive and features a glittering cast and excellent direction from Coppola. This version is probably the most faithful adaptation of the book as the annoyingly foppish Harker travels to Transylvania to work for Dracula who believes Harker's fiancé Mina is his long lost love. The narrative jumps around all over the place but the amazing backdrops and impressive set-pieces are visually stunning. Oldman makes a great Dracula but Reeves is very annoying as Harker and Hopkins gives a strangely comic performance as Van Helsing. It is undeniably stylish but feels over the top in places and while it is entertaining at over two hours long I felt it dragged a bit.
