Devil takes the same interesting premise as Blackout except that this time around we have five people trapped in an elevator and one of them is the devil rather than a common serial killer. The fact it is based on an M. Night Shyamalan story means that twists and a generally contrived feel are inescapable and so it proves. We've got security guards, and eventually police, watching events unfold on the CCTV as the inhabitants of the elevator are violently whittled down to one. It's quite slow and the plot is too thin to support a feature length movie. The narration and the events outside the elevator detract and it is ultimately overly concerned with a heavy-handed morality message. There's definitely a good film in the whole "trapped in an elevator" premise but this is the second failed attempt in the last couple of years.
